Dennis Nieves

Music Producer | Engineer | Composer

With over three decades of experience in the music industry, Dennis Nieves is a seasoned music producer, engineer, and composer whose work spans genres and borders. Born in Connecticut, Dennis has built a remarkable career marked by innovation, collaboration, and a passion for creating timeless music.

Dennis first made waves in 1985 as the lead singer and percussionist for the R&B/Soul Canadian group Something Extra. His production of the band’s debut single for TCI Records earned a Juno Award nomination for Best R&B Single, a historic moment as it was the first year the R&B category was introduced.

In 1993, Dennis relocated to Puerto Rico, where he joined the group Unik-ko as lead singer and producer. Signed to Sony Music, he spent five years producing, composing, and co-writing for the group. His work on the Billboard hit "Juntos" (a duet with Yuri) and contributions to their albums earned Unik-ko the prestigious TV Novelas "Group of the Year" award.

By 1998, Dennis shifted his focus to production and engineering, relocating to Miami and collaborating with industry giants such as Emilio Estefan, Rudy Pérez, Lewis Martinee, and Roy Tavare. His company, D-Menace Music, became synonymous with high-energy remixes across House, Trance, Tribal, and Hip Hop genres. Dennis has been awarded Gold and Platinum records for his remixes, including Elvis Crespo’s "Suavemente" and "Pintame," as well as the "Power Mix Latino" compilation.

Over the years, Dennis has crafted remixes for a roster of global superstars, including Jennifer Lopez, Nelly Furtado, Shakira, Celia Cruz, Thalía, Luis Fonsi, and Gloria Trevi, among others. In 2021, he completed a mainstream remix for Natti Natasha’s "Noches en Miami," further solidifying his reputation as a go-to producer in the Latin and international music scenes.

In 2019, Dennis and D-Menace Music established a new base in Ontario, Canada, with studios near downtown Toronto. Recent projects include producing for the legendary group Crack of Dawn, featuring lead vocalist Michael Dunston. Their 2020 single "Tiempo," co-written by Dennis and featuring vocalist Melba Moore, showcases his continued ability to blend soulful melodies with contemporary production.

In 2021/2022, Dennis completed Michael Dunston’s debut solo EP, "Dunston 2.0," and is currently producing the first solo EP for rising star Jazmin Headley. The lead single, "Sing Sing Sing," featuring dancehall legend Bounty Killer, is set for release in August 2022.

Dennis Nieves continues to push creative boundaries, blending his rich musical heritage with cutting-edge production techniques. His work reflects a lifelong commitment to excellence and innovation in the ever-evolving world of music.
